Patek Philippe has just officially announced the opening of something it sees as critical to its continued long-term success in the United States: a new program for training watchmakers in the U.S. Graduates will be trained to successfully repair Patek Philippe watches up to “Level 2,” which is up to and including self-winding models like the Calatrava Ref. 5116R, with the option to continue to higher levels of complication at subsequent courses in Geneva.
This is apparently Patek’s gambit at attracting new, younger clients, a stated goal of the Cubitus, positioned as it is as the new entry level, sporty watch in the brand’s catalog.
